O star of wonder, star of light, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect light.
So much leads us, guides us to Christmas. I must admit I sure fall for weather forecasts, baking, carols and a nightly advent story.
I pray I am still proceeding, running the race set out and am guided by Him at Christmas and always.
So many, many gifts to count…
2155. Everyone feeling better (that’s a big one and some are still fragile)
2156-2159. Paper Snowflakes, Sugar Cookies, Sprinkles, Siblings
2160. Nature hunt for red and green – a wonderfully warm afternoon of fun.
1. “No, the most important thing I need is God.” ~ out of the mouth of my babe, a precious memory from a frantic time.
1. New allergy alert bracelets (“my watch! It’s 8 o’clock” as youngest says)
2163. Reading Bartholomew Christmas morning. Tears of joy over the ending.
2164. Grandma and Grandpa, here with us.
1. Christmas snow. Snow ON Christmas. The rare variety in this southern land.
Hodgepodgedad says, “No need to dream – the white Christmas was real today.”
2166-67. Afternoon naps. Sleeping beauty and her eyelashes.
2168. Cousins on Christmas night; cousins, aunt and uncle the day after Christmas
2169. My brother’s Yumbos. Youngest girl loving them. When I stand close by, smiling at her enjoying them, I say ‘yum” and she says… ‘bo’
1. Nana sleeping over
1. Standing at the kitchen window rinsing dishes. New white swirls beautiful outside. Makes me feel like I’m in a snow globe.
2172. Birds, fluffed, frantic for seeds.
But the best part?
At the height of the gift opening Christmas morning, littlest boy leans on the couch close to me,
“can we go see the baby Jesus?”
He asks again the next morning. We talk about the baby, look at the Jesus in the little wooden manger.
Singing Joyful, Joyful We Adore You (Casting Crowns version his sister practiced sign language too all those many weeks)
The little children lead us at Christmas. And He is, indeed, the most important thing we need.
