I’ve found that at the heart of schooling, education and teaching is parenting, haven’t you? Our group of writers here at Habits for a Happy Home are offering you, dear readers, resources to equip you in your parenting journey!
We gathered a basket of items we know are trusted parenting books. And we are giving it away! Be sure to enter to win via the rafflecopter widget at the end of this post.
Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates. Deuteronomy 6: 7-9
What is included in our Back to School Parenting Tool Kit?
1) 7 Tools for Cultivating Your Child’s Potential by Zan Tyler – I have so enjoyed this being on my nightstand this summer. I’ve soaked up snippets here and there – just when I needed it! “God created the family to be a powerful, life-shaping force in the lives of your children – to be the place where their potential can be energetically and effectively nourished and cultivated. Sadly, in today’s culture, kids and parents alike often view the home as the spot to recharge their cell phones, change clothes between activities, and then crash at night…. learn to use the toold the Master Gardener has provided for tending and teaching all your children. She will help you recognize the signs of potential in each child, signs that are easy to miss yet are ripe for cultivation. As you read, you will find exciting ways to enable your kids to establish a godly identity, discover their purpose, develop a biblical worldview, and build leadership and communication skills.
2) How to Have a Heart for Your Kids by Rachael Carman (read Richelle’s review at The Curriculum Choice) “How well do you really know your kids? What has God shown you about who they are and who they will become? He has sent these children into your home at this specific time for His glorious purposes. Indeed, you have been invited on the adventure of a lifetime, a journey on which you will see walls fall, seas parted, and giants slain. You don’t need special skills or training for this journey – you need only seek God and hold tight to His mighty hand!”
3) Parenting the QBQ Way by John G. Miller author of QBQ! the Question Behind the Question – How to Be an Outstanding Parent and Raise Great Kids Using the Power of Personal Accountability – ” Why don’t my kids do what I say? Who made the mess in here? When will my teen make better choices? The solution: Learn to parent the QBQ way. Ask the right questions to eliminate blame, complaining and procrastination from your family! Bring personal accountability to life within our families.

One of my tried and true is the Bible and prayer of course but also a mentor mom who can give weathered and seasoned advice and point me in the right direction! I have really enjoyed this blog, thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
The Bible, my family, and Dr. Dobson
My favorite parenting resources are Parenting From the Heart y Marilyn Boyer and any parenting books from Teri Maxwell.

this is an awesome gift basket.
I have to agree….Sally Clarkson’s books are very helpful as well as Stormie Martian’s books on praying. It’s your lifeline to God to be able to go to Him in prayer for everything.
Tried and true is always the Bible and prayer…we also enjoy Charolette Mason’s teachings. This is my first time here…very glad I found you!
My tried and true resource is the Bible coupled with lots and lots of prayer!
I would have to say my new favorite is the Child Training Bible
Right now I am rereading Teri Maxwell’s Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit. I need to keep this on constant reading rotation.
I would love to read those resources.

The Bible, Shepherding a child’s heart, Give them Grace.
What a great collection of encouraging books! I would love to win this basket! 🙂
Prayer! I am a single parent of one beautiful 10-year-old and since day one have always prayed that I would be exactly what she needed to be. I look back and see that there are things that I did without understanding why, but can see how beneficial they were to her.

My tried and true resources are my friends, family, and of course reading what the Bible tells me about parenting!!!
The best source for my parenting is the Bible and prayer. With God’s help I can calm and help any situation as long as I remember to lean on Him it always works out. Also friends who are also Christians help to figure out different ways to go about discipline.

Yep…the Bible and prayer!

Definitely the Bible!
Bible and prayer along with encouragement and practical guidance from wonderful friends God has given me in the various places we have lived and through a few great Christian blogs.
I mostly look to Christian blogs on parentin, the bible and prayer as my parenting resources.
Scripture first and foremost. Have been influenced by many through the years like Reb Bradley, James Dobson, the Boyers, the Clarksons, the Pearls, the Maxwells
The Bible. We also have learned a lot from Elyse Fitzpatrick and Paul Tripp.

I would have to say bringing out the Bible everyday..it was always important while I was growing up!
Go to parenting resources? I think some have changed, I no longer have little little ones so Dr. Sears books aren’t looked at any more. I do still like Kevin Leman though. and of course The Bible. and I love Sally clarkson and the Moores for lots of Homeschool help.

The Word and many beautiful blogs encouraging parents.
Shepherding a childs heart
The Bible, Shepherding a child’s Heart
I love parenting books! Any way to get insight into my kids.
I would have to say that what was working for awhile was our Child Training Bible and For Instruction of His Righteousness. I need to try something new. We are dealing with more misbehaviors and a refreshing look or perspective may be in order now, because what we were doing is no longer as effective.
The Bible. And advice from my mom and from my close friends who are godly mothers.
I would have to say anything by Dr Dobson and the Bible!!!
Don’t Make me Count to Three by Ginger Plowman
The Bible and prayer
Not any one book except the Bible. Luckily, our church hosts parenting seminars at least once a year. And A LOT OF PRAYER.
The Bible and prayer, the child training Bible
Educating the whole hearted child!
Pretty much anything by the Clarksons! I love their stuff and the fact that their kids are old enough to prove the results!

My tried and true are Stormie Omartian’s “Praying for Your Kids.”
I have read a few books but mostly I rely on my inner mothering instinct and God. But I don’t turn down a book – it could teach me something that I have not considered yet….
Thanks for a great gift basket.

The Bible, my Mom, and The Five Love Languages book–rocked my world!
Shepherding a Child’s Heart by Tripp
My tried & true resources: The Bible, and studying it in depth, checking responses against it, looking for ways to bring it to life in each situation and conversation. My husband, our prayers together and parenting together is both encouragement and help when I need to change – he sees me through eyes of love even in the midst. Prayer in the midst of circumstances. Surrounding myself with friends who parent is ways I want to model, who struggle in the same steps, who seek the same Lord Jesus for Truth.
My greatest parenting resources are other moms who have been where I am now and lots of prayer!
prayer. LOTS AND LOTS of prayer
1 st and for most the Bible! Then the Duggar books! Love them and have use them tons

Thank you for this wonderful give away & for taking the time to put it together! 🙂
Hands on learning…we use manipulatives A LOT, and my son loves it!
These look like great books. I love Zan Tyler.
My tried and true resources for parenting are following God’s directions, my parents, my friends, books like the Love and Logic series, and my kids. I feel one of the things God has directed my husband and I to do is listen to our kids. Yes, they get disciplined when they need it, but sometimes they are acting out because a need isn’t met. It is the hardest thing to do, just stop and listen, but God wants us to do that for him too.
QBQ – awesome book but I’ve never seen the parenting one! I’d love to read that.

I don’t really have any other then the Bible.
The Bible, wise friends and family, and ministries like Focus on the Family, Family Life Today, etc. Thanks for the chance!
