They fell. One after the other.
The first ones fell the hardest.
Monday.
Tuesday.
Wednesday.
Two on Thursday.
Despite all my best disinfecting efforts. Fortunately, though, the last three have had the lesser version of the stomach sickness. Needless to say, we didn’t get much school work accomplished. But as with all homeschooling there was learning.
Math? We graphed pain reliever times.
Then we practiced taking care.
We sat outside and let the sunshine lift our spirits.
We found new stations and shows on our favorite SkyAngel TV: Recipe TV, Pet TV. Ok, plus Garfield and Peep for the laughs. And Kipper via Sprout on demand 🙂
We caught up on Answers Magazine. The topic fit the science unit study we are following in Answers in Genesis God’s Design for: Our Universe. Did you know there is a kid section in every issue of this magazine?
The basics: There was the potato provision I was most grateful for. Last Saturday I cooked a slew of potatoes in prep for Sunday lunch. But then discovered I didn’t have enough chicken for the crowd coming. So I tucked those potatoes in the fridge. Little did I know they would be just what queasy tummies would need. Plus, Our 365 Days of Celebration and Praise reminded us it is National Potato Month 🙂
Then there was also the laundry provision. Little did I know how much we would need that double batch of homemade powdered laundry detergent. *sigh*
In honor of sickness, I posted my mother’s recipe for Rice Water Soup. And over on $5 Dinners, I shared how slow cooker batch cooking is the super supper saver. I’m always so thankful when I can just pull the main ingredient out of the freezer.
Heart of the Matter Conference: And right in the very middle of it all, there was the motivating and encouraging Heart of the Matter conference. The night before I got only snippets of sleep because Middle Girl had fallen hard. Come noon on Wednesday, my small part in this homeschooling conference had my heart pounding out of my chest before the mic went green. But then the prayers surrounded and He took care of it all. Nature/Science: We were thrilled by the jonquils and crocus poking their way through to signal spring. I did write up our Evergreen Nature Study, which we sort of worked on here and there over the course of the last month. And, Monday morning, prior to all the sickness, we participated in the Great Backyard Bird Count along with our Winter Birds study.
We also watched the NASA channel for the last space shuttle launch Thursday afternoon.
I’d like to think we’ve had our share of sickness this year. And I’ll say again, I’m ready for spring!

Oh, you poor things! You guys look so sick! We have been sick too, but mostly the coughing-sore throat & fever kind not the vomiting kind. Thankfully! We got snatches of school done as one or the other felt better, but we didn’t scratch much off our school to-do list this week either. Hopefully next week will be better for both of our families! Yikes! I hope you’re all feeling better SOON! What a rough week! But you still got some learning in – amazing!
Seems like everyone is getting that. Thankfully, ours was just a knockout cold that took out one at a time over here. My turn now. 🙁 Here’s to a better week tomorrow.

You poor babies! My baby has got strep for the 3rd time since Thanksgiving! We will have a few weeks of relief then back to sickness. I too am so ready for spring!!
Enough of that in our house, too, even though it was just Kathryn. I am thinking of installing an automatic Lysol-spraying device at every doorway to thoroughly drench everyone who walks in the door. Bet I could make a fortune on that this time of year. 😉
