Days in the Lives of Habits for a Happy Home Authors

We each have different days based on the type of family we have, the make up of that family, our responses to situations and more. Are they all happy homes? We hope that these glimpses into our authors’ homes will encourage you on your road.

  • A Day in the Life of Homeschooling Boys by Kendra. “Everybody is asking about lunch. I say, “as soon as I finish checking all this work.” Then I start checking the work. Almost 2 year old is somewhere getting into something.”
  • A Day in the Life of a Charlotte Mason Inspired Homeschool by Angie. “keeping with the idea of short lessons, and using narration as a key component to the lessons as CM suggested.“
  • A Summer in the Life of a Mom Whose Oldest Just Got Married by Little Sanctuary. “At this point, I was wondering why the Lord saw fit to give me six girls and only two boys. I think I would much rather be on the boy planning side of a wedding.“
  • A Day in the Life of Our Mostly-Traditional, All-Girl Home School by Kim A. “I could never do that!” exclaims one woman. “You must have so much patience!” cries another. “How DO you do it?” asks a third.
  • Knock, Knock : A Day in Your Prayer Life by Beth. “How persistent are you, when it comes to prayer?”
  • Finding Time for God with an Infant and a Toddler by Trisha. “It’s almost impossible. Good Luck! The End. I’m kidding… kind of.”

  • A Day in Life of a Growing Family: My Story Telling Overalls by Kerri. “My eyes ran over that softly worn denim and I couldn’t help but reminisce as I looked at the rainbow of colors there.  There were births and moves and growing up years represented in the raffia, citrus slice and hoot owl brown.”
  • Making Prayer a Priority Every Day by Melanie. “We use ACTS to remember to not just ask for things.“
  • A Day in the Life of a Mediocre Housewife by Sherri. “I clean, dust, organize, clean the bathrooms and vacuum. But I do it so I can move on to other things.”
  • A Day in the Life at Hodgepodge by Tricia. “This season of my life is a constant refining by fire. I have so many chances to respond Biblically or to ask forgiveness and daily opportunity to live in His strength.”
  • A Day in the Life of a Dad: Steering Home by Steve. “Sometimes we run in circles for a while.  Other times, we set out in a completely wrong direction.  There was a time that one child got so disoriented that, thinking we were hopelessly lost, cried out, “Daddy, you steer the car now.”
  • How God Supplies For Your Needs on an Ordinary Day: Philippians 4:19 by Heidi. “There is no question in my mind that God sent that money to us.”

This the the day the Lord has made… Psalm 118:24

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

Thanks for sharing your days. I try to do a day each month so I can look back and see all that we do.
    Blessings, Dawn
