It’s time to make a seahorse gliding gracefully through the ocean with Nana’s video tutorial! Do you know about Harmony Art Mom’s Summer Art Plans? This is a special feature Barb-Harmony Art Mom is sharing this summer! And we at Hodgepodge have the privilege of sharing a free video seahorse chalk art tutorial at Harmony Fine Arts today!
Head over and give it a try – then email your art work in to Harmony Art Mom to be included in her slideshow. All the details are in today’s post and under the Sketch Tuesday tab.
Last week she shared Picasso’s rooster and we had such fun with that!
Harmony Art Mom’s Summer Art Plans are a continuation of her year round Sketch Tuesday. We include Sketch Tuesday in our homeschool. In fact, my Middle Girl is often asking, “What is this week’s Sketch Tuesday topic?”
We are so very grateful to Barb-Harmony Art Mom for blessing our homeschool with not only Sketch Tuesday but her Harmony Fine Arts Art and Music Appreciation plans and her Handbook of Nature Study Outdoor Hour Challenges. We look forward to art and music appreciation and nature study each week!
This seahorse tutorial we share today is part of our latest book, Chalk Pastels: Art at the Beach. You can enjoy another free video tutorial – How to Draw Beach Umbrellas plus view the listing of subjects in this fun book at Southern Hodgepodge.
Do you and your child find it easier to learn with a video tutorial? You will be happy to know that we have a video course for all ages!
You Are An Artist!
- A note on chalk pastels: Pastels are an easy, forgiving medium. Fun for children and adults alike! Details on the pastels and paper we use, how and where to purchase, and links to all of Nana’s other pastel lessons (100 free lessons now) are all contained in the post Pastels plus links to tutorials plus the video The Very Few Must Have Supplies for Chalk Pastel Art. A simple set is very affordable. Nana also teaches acrylic lessons.
- The practical aspects of a mess: Pastels are blessedly messy. We always have baby wipes close by to wipe hands. We wear something we don’t mind getting stained or don a smock.
- Encouragement: You Can Be an Artist! 10 Day series and Art for All Ages 10 Day series
