Practice after practice after practice. Run. Run. Run. Searching for this type of curriculum to fit the learning style for this child. A special course for your high schooler. Oh and then there is that article to read about that tool for this child on that Pinterest board full of resources. Have you stopped to think? Maybe it is time to simplify your homeschool with the ancient paths.
This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Jeremiah 6:16
Simplify Your Homeschool With The Ancient Paths
Every now and then it is a good habit to look at the foundation of our home schools, our families. Sometimes we can get a bit top heavy in one area. Other times we are so very busy doing what that other successful family is doing – even though we have that nagging feeling it just isn’t right for our homeschool.
What does the Lord say about it? Have you asked Him? Have you asked Him how to simplify your homeschool?
Bring it ALL to him. Ask Him. He will show you the path to walk. Maybe you drop that one subject for a short time. You might set aside written work for a week and sit on the couch together and catch up on all that reading.
…ask where the good way is, and walk in it…
Yes there are so many, many good things we homeschoolers can be involved in. The abundance of extracurricular, church and homeschool group activities is overwhelming. But when making a decision and committing to a semester-long learning – Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths.
Maybe truly focus on one to two things that you feel are most important for your family. Using kind words with each other? Character training? Developing gifts and talents? Simplify your homeschool.
Ask the Lord to show you, ask Him to daily to bless your homeschool. You just may be surprised or maybe you might be reminded. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
Walk those ancient paths and you will find rest for your souls.
