Recently, I was watching the live feed from Passion 2011 in Atlanta. I love Louie Giglio and the Passion organization! I have been listening to him for over 10 years now. Every Tuesday night my friends and I used to pile in the car together and drive 285 to 400 amidst horrific Atlanta rush hour traffic just to hear him. Why? It’s not because he was some heart throb hottie! In fact, Louie is the same age as my dad, and although he could out dress me any day, we made the trek because we knew at the end of our 1 (sometimes 2) hour drive we would hear Truth. Louie’s teaching of the Word made me long to know more about my Savior! Those days were so precious!
I remember truly desiring God to send me out, use me and do great things with my life! I knew God had set me apart for ministry some how but I didn’t know what that would look like. Would he give me a huge speaking ministry like Beth Moore? Would He send me over seas to help lead a small village to the Lord? I have always been a daydreamer! I will not even let you in on all the scenarios I paint in my head! But the bottom line is I wanted to do something GREAT for the Lord! I used to valiantly recite Isaiah 26:8,
“Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.”
Now I know He is not done with me yet, but fast forward 10 years and I am knee deep in diapers, dishes and laundry! The life of being greatly used by God I painted in my head 10 years ago didn’t look much like this in my mind. I get frustrated a lot of days and wonder if when I asked God to use me, those many years ago, He passed over me or forgot.
My life revolves around the ever so needy demands of a certain 9 month old and 2 1/2 year old, but my loving Heavenly Father reminds me two things. First, it is a great and wonderful task and privilege to lead, guide and shepherd the hearts of my two little ones! If God answered my prayer by sending us these two little guys… then glory to God! I hope I can be found faithful! Most importantly, He reminds me it is still a “Yes”. Following Jesus is just one “Yes” at a time. From high school, to college, to marriage, to knee deep in diapers, its all about obedience! How did I get here? A series of “Yes Lords” lead the way!
So as I reflect on what God has done and look ahead towards the future, its just “Yes Lord”. When we say “Yes Lord” He takes care of His renown and His glory! So for today, my “Yes Lord” means diapers and laundry! I don’t get it but whatever! Who else but our God brings glory out of diapers?! So I can serve with all my heart, with even joy, because it is all for Him!
Happy New Year!

Precious post, Trisha! God is using you greatly in the lives of everyone around you. I’m 20 years past my great cry to God for him to use me greatly and seeing that He does use us every day if we give every day to Him.
