Generous in love—God, give grace! Huge in mercy—wipe out my bad record.
Scrub away my guilt,……..
God, make a fresh start in me,
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life…
Going through the motions doesn’t please you,
a flawless performance is nothing to you.
I learned God-worship
when my pride was shattered…….
I confess right now that I don’t have it all together, I don’t have very good habits in some areas, I have let some habits fall by the wayside, I have been lazy. I confess that I have to daily fight my flesh when it comes to maintaining good habits!! I confess that I am not always as patient or as soft-spoken as I should be. I confess that I don’t always get to what I had planned, I don’t always read every book on the list. I confess that there are many times I let my boys watch too much t.v. and play to many video games. I confess that I haven’t been getting out in God’s Creation as much as I need to, I confess that I don’t clean the house like I should, I confess that I doubt my ability to be the mom my boys need. I confess that I struggle with home schooling and that I have thought (at least once or twice) that it would be easier just to put them in school. I could go on and on but I will spare you that!!
I am not just talking about confession of my sin, which I need to do that kind of confessing daily!! It isn’t just sin though that comes in and makes a wreck of things, it’s my guilt, it’s my excuses, it’s my thoughts, expectations, plans gone south and it’s my idea of my failings even when God doesn’t see them as such!
The beautiful truth is that God knows me inside and out, the good, the bad and the really ugly, He really knows me and still loves me. He knows all that I am confessing already but I think it’s important to confess them, to say them out loud to HIM. When we say it, it is the first step of letting it all go and when we do give it to HIM, we are exposing these things to HIM, to His light, His grace, His mercy, His Love. When we confess it all to HIM, HE can begin to do HIS Beautiful, Miraculous thing with it all!! I truly believe confession brings healing, restoration, salvation and a new day!!
Walk in the Habit of Confession so God can bring you to the place He can do the most through you and in you!!

Ditto Kendra! I must say I am learning so much from The Message translation of the Bible.

Confession is so important. I believe it leads us to seeking help from our Creator in changing our habits – something I”m working on now. And, I believe it helps us to not compound our sins. When we view ourselves as failures in any way, when we start to doubt ourselves, we risk falling into discouraged or sometimes even depressed states of mind and action. That isn’t good for us or our families!
Thank you for your confessions, though! It is so easy for me to think everyone else is a much better mom than I’ve been – and then I get so discouraged! After a short wallowing, I try to remember that God gave these children to me, and He is far wiser than I am. He sees something in me that made me right for this job. I just need to work with Him more frequently and truly trust & believe that He did the right thing!
