The children should have the joy of living in far lands, in other persons, in other times – a delightful double existence; and this joy they will find, for the most part, in their story books. ~ Charlotte Mason
Favorite books and resources are hard to narrow down to a list of ten! So, today I’m sharing a hodgepodge of favorites – lists and more! ~this post contains affiliate links. Please see our disclosure policy.
– this year’s all-time favorite. A devotional purchased for Littlest Girl and one now beloved by the entire family. We like to keep it within reach in our Bible Basket.
10 Nostalgic Read Alouds – “Winkin, Blinkin and Nod sailed off in a wooden shoe” Mother Goose, Book House books, Dick and Jane and more.
Favorite Devotionals and Other Resources – “This list of devotionals would be great to start with this new year or any time of year. Here’s our virtual stack.”
10 Christian Resources for Adolescence – “When the children turn twelve the much-anticipated trip with dad becomes a reality.”
Our favorite bird field guides – “look up your favorite bird and listen to its call.*favorite! favorite!”
– (real life photo of the piles by the backdoor. Have to have them handy for nature study). Eldest Boy learned to read with these. Nana read them and recorded her voice on cassette tape. He listened over and over. Auditory learner!
Goodnight Moon “in the great green room…” So much of a favorite that we have two copies.
Answers in Genesis Guides – we love all of the Answers in Genesis resources. I couldn’t find the very favorite Aquarium guide at the time of this photo. (Littlest Girl got the mini Aquarium Guide for her birthday last year). It may have been in off in a bedroom somewhere. The children even pull our God’s Design for Science curriculum off the shelves for browsing.
365 Days of Celebration and Praise – (my full review) a well-worn reference we pull out often for every day celebrating and learning. “Julie Lavender has done all the work. Pull out her 365 Days of Celebration and Praise to start the day. It’s appropriate for all ages. A full year of family devotionals.”
Tapestry of Grace books – it’s always a fun time when the big stack of Tapestry books come from the library! Weaving all sorts of wonderful learning through all the ages in our homeschool.
It’s ten weeks of top ten lists with iHomeschool Network and Top Ten Tuesday with Angie at Many Little Blessings! Click over to see the 10 week schedule and visit all the other homeschool participants.

So, do you have a hard time just listing 10 favorite books too?

I love it that your board book copy of Goodnight Moon is so worn. It looks like ours.
I’m such a mush ball …. I’ve started getting teary eyed with Goodnight Moon, because I’ve read it for so many years!
