A Wide Range of Blessings

“Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved. The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory.” – Susan B. Anthony

The wide range of ages from preschool to middle school…from imaginary friends to youth group friends.

The wide range of needs

Scraped knees, food and seasonal allergies, epipens…

(Last Easter, above) …blankets, pacis, nightlights… to ear buds and derby car parts.

The wide range of helpers strapping younger siblings in a car seat, strapping sandals on, scrubbing bubbles in the sink, reading a book to a buddy.

The wide range of sizes: little bitty socks; stout, strong legs; long, lanky limbs with high water jeans… two narrow sets of feet, three wide.

The wide range of yeses and messes.

From a sink full of spice cabinet concoctions to…

…little boy neighborhood walks… to big boy science projects.

The wide range of questions

Why is it called bare feet? (think bear feet)… Up? up?… to when is it my turn on the computer?

*an updated post from the archives. My, how they’ve grown and changed since this time last year…

Plus all the blessings of this last week…

2341. Balancing the needs of the age range.

2342. Friday, spring break, sunshine breaking through, and it’s date night too.

2343. Sipping Starbucks at sunset.

2344. love leftovers for lunch!

2345. sticky orange juice mess to start the day?

2346. breakfast for supper.

2347. Nana’s pastel lessons.

2348. Clearing out a spot for sunflowers, sprucing up the yard, adding shelves to the playhouse.

2349. Simply sitting outside on the patio. Backyard spectator of sibling soccer, swinging and playhouse stories.

2350. Making plans for a fun week with beautiful weather forecast.

2351. Dreams and plans discussed with eldest boy for an upcoming 12-year-old trip

“When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses.” – Joyce Brothers

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

It kills me to look even through photos of last year. These pre-teen years sure have chaned them, yet, as I look through the physical changes, I see the character, stamina, and academic changes as well. Then I look through the photos again. 😉 We had an unexpected day yesterday that got labled “the best day ever”. I love it when those come around!
