It occurred to me this week, as it often does. This homeschool life is full of comforts. But this time I was intentional to catch the images. The many, many comforts of homeschool. How blessed we are to do this thing together. And how quickly these children grow, how fleeting the time. So today, a Collage Friday of our week of comforts…
The stack of Olympics books from our suggested list in Amanda Bennett’s Winter Games 2014 unit study (the unit is only $6 through 1/18/14)! We are already starting this wonderful resource and are spreading it out from now through the winter games three weeks from now!

Winter was made for warm blankets and big books (saying I saw on Pinterest). And doing school work by the warm fire!
“The incredible gift of the ordinary! Glory comes streaming from the table of daily life.” ~ Macrina Wiederkehr
A collage of all the comforts happening at the same time. Warm blanket and ear buds for math, stuffed animal in your lap, Starfall app on the iPad, comfy chair to practice drama lines. (The cast list for the spring production of Beauty & the Beast was announced – Eldest Girl is the wardrobe and Middle Girl is Mrs. Potts!) #1000gifts
Your own, personal math tutor – your brother!
“Life is not intended to be simply a round of work, no matter how interesting and important that work may be. A moment’s pause to watch the glory of sunrise or a sunset is soul satisfying, while a bird’s song will set the steps to music all day long.” ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
The comforts of sketching the Sketch Tuesday topic while listening to Mendelsson’s MidSummer Night’s Dream with our Harmony Fine Arts studies.
“There will be days which are great and everything goes as planned. There will be other days when we aren’t sure why we got out of bed. Regardless of which kind of day it is, we can be assured that God takes care of our daily needs.” ~ Emilie Barnes
And speaking of art… it’s wonderful to have family passes to The High Museum of Art – and find out that the audio tours are half price when you go! And a comfort to go on such wonderful field trips so close to home.
A new piano bench to enjoy! Build by my Daddy, the Master Carpenter. Complete with separate compartments with each of the girls’ names. The storage! The sturdiness! The beauty! What a comfort – with so many plopping down throughout the school day.
What a great evening with Hal and @marykprather at California Pizza Kitchen. Talking life, parenting and blogging. We are doing this again soon!
Tailoring a schedule so that we can get away on a date night last Friday night with Mary and Hal Prather of Homegrown Learners! The comforts of fellow, like-minded, homeschooling friends!
“Take time to laugh. It is the music of the soul.” ~ author unknown

Wonderful! Youngest and I had a blast rehearsing her Beauty and the Beast songs, drinking coffee and talking in the afternoon, and laughing at ourselves. I am enjoying these last couple years homeschooling before I have an empty nest.
Hodgepodgemom says
I hear you Kim!! We really could go on and on about the comforts…

Love your quotes.
Thanks for the reminder to make it fun and to stop and smell the roses, so to speak.

Great post and great reminder of why we do this! The best parenting decision we ever made was to homeschool our children. I can’t imagine having it any other way. Thank you!
