I thank God everyday for my family and friends and the blessings He has given, but there is an area in my prayer life that needs some improvement that I would like to share with you…I like to call it “last-minute prayers”. I often find myself saying a last-minute prayer asking God for immediate needs such as, “Please Lord, just get me home safe” when my van is not running right or “Please, please, just 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep”.
These prayers and others like them are answered often, yet we forget to go back and say thank you. We arrive home safely and go about our business or we wake up well rested ready to take on a new day without a thought of the One who gave us the gift of an answered prayer.
First Thessalonians 5:18 says in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Lately, I have made it my goal to be thankful for those prayers. To thank God for all of His gifts regardless of how small they seem or how last-minute they were thrown at Him.
What are some of your last-minute prayers?

Sherri's Thoughts says
I always panic if I think I missed paying a bill. I hate late charges and with my budget so tight, I can’t afford them. I will say, “Lord, please, please, please don’t let me have missed that bill.” And then when I pull up my money program and find that it’s been paid, I sigh in relief and pat myself on the back because I didn’t forget it. But rarely do I thank God for the fact that He’s the One who helped me remember to do it.
Heidi says
I do the same thing, Sherri…God, please, don’t let that check clear until the deposit clears!

Thank you for sharing this Heidi, I needed it for such a time as this. You reminded me to say thank you for allowing us to make the school bus this morning and every one so far this year (it’s only been 1 week today) but last night I did not set the alarm to get up at 6:00 because I thought I would do it this morning after my husband went to work but I forgot. I woke up at 6:36 and prayed Lord, please don’t let us miss the bus. I think you’re right so often we forget to say thank you but we know our Father deserves to hear those 2 words that mean so much.
Heidi says
He does want to hear those 2 words. Thank you is so powerful for us when others recognize our works, imagine how much more God likes to hear it!
