Slow Cooker Vegetables Feed the Larger Family

As we head into the summer months, my beloved slow cooker switches into high gear. See, I try and avoid using the oven if at all possible, so the slow cooker gets a lot of use. We all know you can save money and feed the many by serving garden vegetables. One way I save is by having veggie night once a week. And sometimes the slow cooker helps me out.

Sharing the how to of these slow cooker summer veggies at $5 Dinners...

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

We use the crock pot year around. It makes cooking a meal so easy, but we live in the south, and have nearly 8 months of summer, along with some really warm Springs and Falls. Even a little crock pot can make our tiny trailer uncoolable.

We now run an extension cord from our outside plug that my Dad installed, and out to a picnic table. We also purchased a toaster over, and can take chicken or a roast outside to cook.

I use my crock pot year-round as well. Love the idea of a veggie melange! Popping over to discover more at $5 Dinners…

Yes, the slow cooker is a wonderful thing to put to work for you – all the year ’round. Weekdays, Sundays, always 🙂
