Only one thing is needed

I didn’t think I had anything to post today. I’ve been a bit soul-sick lately. Heavy-hearted. Mind overflowing with questions and unknowns and doubts and fears. I was just about to send a note to my fellow Habits authors to let them know I wouldn’t have a post ready. Then I heard that voice tugging at my heart again:

Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.

Am I ever going to learn?

I don’t have a lot to say today, but I wanted to share the oh-so-familiar verses from Philippians 4 that God pointed me to this afternoon. Maybe somebody else is going through a rough patch and needs a little encouragement.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

And don’t miss the rest of it. I’ve given it to God, abandoned the anxiety, now what? How do I keep myself from dwelling on it?

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

    Thank you Kendra, I love theses scriptures but needed to be reminded that they go together. I can have the peace that only comes from God but in order to do that and keep it I only need to think on the lovely, pure, honorable things.
