Edible Sand and Other Allergy-Friendly Birthday Cake Ideas

How’s a bucket of sand for a 13-year-old birthday cake? Edible sand that is. It was just right for a birthday at the beach. All the ingredients are allergy-safe for our nut-free, egg-free crew.

Plus it is just downright fun to make! This is our second year making golden Oreo sand. Be sure to click over to Household Ways for the edible sand recipe.
Birthdays and birthday parties need not be a tough nor expensive time in an allergy-friendly world. For many years now, my children have enjoyed birthdays complete with cookie cake and characters on top. Homemade is the way to go. You simply need to be creative. Cookie cake? Make a big batch of homemade cookie dough…

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.
