Science Fun!

One of my favorite subjects when I was in school was science and it is still one of my favorites to do with my kids!  It is one of the first books I purchase when I am planning for the next school year and it is a subject I always make sure we get to on its scheduled day during the school year.

I am always looking for fun ideas and projects to do with my kids.  Here are some links to help you when planning your next science topic…

  • Having Fun with Science by Angie This post has lots of fun ideas and links to great science resources and project ideas.
  • Science Project Display Board by Tricia This post at Heart of the Matter online is an excellent resource for science fair project displays.
  • Science Fair 2011 This is an overview of my oldest son’s science project from this year.

Do you have any other resources you would like to share?

Oh yes it is! Great job on the project! We had our fair a little earlier this year and had a great time. Our eldest son made a mousetrap car, the eldest daughter determined the pitch of my crystal glasses, and the youngest 2 did water cycle experiments. Congrats on the ribbons!

Your rock candy project looks like fun! A fun project I did cough cough cough years ago, when I was less than ten years old, was to grow the same plant in soils with different composition. I charted which ones did the best and jotted down what the ones that didn’t grow well needed from looking at the leaves. My father, who worked in the agri-chemical business, taught me about soils and plant nutrition. Wish I could remember all of that today! .

I love science too! I have used Considering God’s Creation curriculum and am currently using Apologia’s Anatomy and Physiology curriculum. It’s so wonderful to have experiments laid out for you. I also supplement with other experiments as well. Thanks for sharing!

We will be doing Apologia Anatomy next year and I am so looking forward to it! We are working on Apologia Astronomy this year. I do love the Apologia Science curriculum and have really enjoyed the book and projects!
