Often times, an atmosphere of learning is simply giving permission. Yes, you can chase after that answer. The tools you need are right on that shelf or maybe a computer search away. Sure, hop up in that moving van! With an atmosphere of learning, there is a natural “yes” built into our day. Let me […]

The cross-country move
My mother and father have retired. They decided that they would spend retirement in Utah, where dad can spend time outdoors camping and fishing. My two brothers & I recently drove them across the country from Georgia to Utah. Driving their two cars and a 26′ moving van across country was an adventure.
Math, Display Boards – Hold the Rest
Following last week’s sickness I decided this week would be just Math and display boards. In three short weeks we will enjoy a Homeschool Expo with our homeschool group. The Expo includes a science fair, family tables with displays of learning, plus a talent show. This year we have four science project entries. It was […]

Accept the invitation
All things spring! The calendar flipped to March and we’re sharing habits for a new season. Amidst the spring cleaning, be sure to make it a habit to enjoy… “Push me high! I want an adventure!” she shrills. So, of course, I do. I push her high. And she yells, “oh I’m going as high […]

Grandma’s Glazed Strawberries and Bananas
One jumped. One twirled. My children’s reaction when Grandma and Grandpa came through the door with the large bowl full of their favorite fruit combination. Strawberries. Bananas. Strawberry Glaze. That’s it. Cut up strawberries and bananas and stir in the glaze. Grandma says you can find the tub of red, strawberry glaze at the grocery […]
Here and Back Again
Those many years ago, I loaded my car and moved to the west. The call of those majestic mountains, travel, new territory. The Lord pointed me to a job I always dreamed of, and, after a while, the man I always dreamed of. Plus some really great in-laws. Married ten months, back to the south […]
The Curriculum Choice: The Answers Book for Kids
From the Answers in Genesis site: “Answers are important. If children aren’t given answers to their questions about the Bible and the history it reveals, they cannot defend their faith against a fallen world. The Answers Book for Kids series is a unique collection of question-answer books from Ken Ham and the creative team at […]
I is for Iced Coffee
With the weather turning spring like, I’ll soon be turning to iced coffee. An update from the Hodgepodge archives, which, besides declaring my love for this afternoon treat, is a recipe. (Also my entry in the Homeschool Post’s A B See Photo Meme.). I must have my afternoon coffee. And when the weather turns warm […]
wise woman or foolish woman

Weekly Wrap: Sick of sickness?
They fell. One after the other. The first ones fell the hardest. Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. Two on Thursday. Despite all my best disinfecting efforts. Fortunately, though, the last three have had the lesser version of the stomach sickness. Needless to say, we didn’t get much school work accomplished. But as with all homeschooling there was […]
Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself
I learned these verses many, many years before I accepted Christ and actually began reading the Bible. In fact, I’ll dare say some people aren’t even sure if the “Golden Rule” is from the Bible or just an old saying. But Jesus says this simple statement is the second greatest commandment! (Matthew 22:39). The lawyer […]
