Mud-luscious

This business of play. It’s a dirty job. But someone has to do it. Because play is a child’s job. And mud is a magnet. Dirt and water mixed together become paint. It becomes a fairy garden. Or, of course, a pie. Many a pie I made in my childhood days. If only us adults […]

Automobiles and Airplanes: An Atmosphere of Learning

Often times, an atmosphere of learning is simply giving permission. Yes, you can chase after that answer. The tools you need are right on that shelf or maybe a computer search away. Sure, hop up in that moving van! With an atmosphere of learning, there is a natural “yes” built into our day. Let me […]

The cross-country move

My mother and father have retired.  They decided that they would spend retirement in Utah, where dad can spend time outdoors camping and fishing. My two brothers & I recently drove them across the country from Georgia to Utah.  Driving their two cars and a 26′ moving van across country was an adventure.

Math, Display Boards – Hold the Rest

Following last week’s sickness I decided this week would be just Math and display boards. In three short weeks we will enjoy a Homeschool Expo with our homeschool group. The Expo includes a science fair, family tables with displays of learning, plus a talent show. This year we have four science project entries. It was […]

Accept the invitation

All things spring! The calendar flipped to March and we’re sharing habits for a new season. Amidst the spring cleaning, be sure to make it a habit to enjoy… “Push me high! I want an adventure!” she shrills. So, of course, I do. I push her high. And she yells, “oh I’m going as high […]

Grandma’s Glazed Strawberries and Bananas

One jumped. One twirled. My children’s reaction when Grandma and Grandpa came through the door with the large bowl full of their favorite fruit combination. Strawberries. Bananas. Strawberry Glaze. That’s it. Cut up strawberries and bananas and stir in the glaze. Grandma says you can find the tub of red, strawberry glaze at the grocery […]

Here and Back Again

Those many years ago, I loaded my car and moved to the west. The call of those majestic mountains, travel, new territory. The Lord pointed me to a job I always dreamed of, and, after a while, the man I always dreamed of. Plus some really great in-laws. Married ten months, back to the south […]

The Curriculum Choice: The Answers Book for Kids

From the Answers in Genesis site: “Answers are important. If children aren’t given answers to their questions about the Bible and the history it reveals, they cannot defend their faith against a fallen world. The Answers Book for Kids series is a unique collection of question-answer books from Ken Ham and the creative team at […]

A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands. Proverbs 14:1 Are you a wise woman or a foolish woman? Are you building up your house or are you tearing it down. Whether you acknowledge it or not you are either doing one or the other. Click over and […]
